About Minneapolis Tourism

The biggest city in the whole of Minnesota, Minneapolis is centered around the Mississippi River. The adjacent city of St. Paul is the capital city and these two cities are often referred to as the 'Twin Cities', due to their close relationship and proximity to each other.

Minneapolis lies to the west and is very much the heart of this region, comprising a modern gridwork of avenues and blocks of tall buildings, which are often linked by 'Skyways'. Highlights in Minneapolis include the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, the towering IDS Center, the Turnblad Mansion, the Fredrick R. Weisman Art Museum, and the Minneapolis Center for Photography (MCP).

Minneapolis St Paul Airport (MSP) is close to Bloomington, where the simply enormous Mall of America resides, one of America's largest, with over 500 different shops. The airport is also just a short drive to the northerly city of St. Paul, where sights include the Como Zoo and Conservatory, the Cathedral of Saint Paul, the centrally located Landmark Center, and the seasonal Winter Carnival, which takes place each year in January and is always a crowd puller.
